Spit 'n Polish Coin-cleaning Emulsion, 1oz bottle.

Only available from Noble Roman Coins, this yucky emulsion is perfect for cleaning your dirt-covered coins.

From the beginning of time (or at least for the last 20 years, anyway) we've touted the benefits of cleaning dirt-covered ancient coins with simple saliva and a common or DD Dental Pick. Just a dab of your spit/saliva on your coin's surface keeps the removed dirt in a suspension, so you can actually see what and how much dirt is being removed. Make sense?

With this new 'similar-to-spit' emulsion, you'll receive the added benefits of a dirt-penetrating light soap that helps cut into the dirt (unlike your saliva) and at the same time impregnates your coin's green patina, giving a deep rich waxed look, without even buffing. And that's what we're talking about!

Best used on coins already soaking in distilled water. Just add a single drop of NRC's Spit 'n Polish to the area you're cleaning and go for it!

Spit 'n Polish is great for all those minor cleaning and touch-up jobs we come across where Gringott's is too much and distilled water not quite enough. I found this product to be particularly usefull for cleaning coins with delicate desert patinas where the sand fill was obstructing an important detail and a prolonged soak would soften the sand fill too much. S'nP allowed me to remove just enough to get at the details underneath without damaging the patina or removing too much of the sand/dirt. I found that Spit 'n Polish worked best after a short (2 or 3 hours) soak for spot cleaning (an eyedropper is very helpful here - or if not available, just ignore areas that don't need cleaning), or after an overnight soak for coins where a general touch-up is all that is needed. Rinse in distilled water after you've finished, dry, and evaluate to see if any more work is needed. S'nP also tends to slighly darken and tone your coins, so it gives your coin an "uncleaned" look that collectors appreciate and value. And outstanding product for many of those "in-between" cleaning projects...

Excellent new product I will always keep on hand. I have been using it on typical Balkan type coins but it should work very well on desert patinas too. It softens/loosens and penetrates the top layers of dirt, sort of visually separating them from the patina or harder dirt/encrustation beneath. I am able to use a much lighter touch with dental picks in small or detailed areas. It goes beyond what distilled water soaks or soap and brushing alone can do. a drop goes a long way...
